One of the teenage girls allegedly killed by members of her Afghan-born family in Kingston, Ont., had been dating a Pakistani boy in Montreal against her parents' wishes, according to a man and woman who say they are siblings of one of the victims.

Zainab Shafia had gone out several times with the boy and even left the family home once, and was roughed up by her younger brother as a result, according to the relatives, Diba Masoomi and Wali Abdali, who live in France.

  1. Amazing story.

A couple from Afghanistan come to Canada and shortly after buy a strip mall for a cool 2 million with 1.2 million paid in cash.

Within 2 years, the three daughters and the man's first wife are dead. A victim of "honor killings", which we have now imported into Canada so we can all feel better about multiculturalism.

Now we have 3 dead girls and a dead mother and we have 3 Muslim immigrants being charged with first degree murder.

Where is the outrage in the Liberal world?

1.We have imported the Asian gang crisis in B.C.

2.We have imported the Jamaican gangs we see in Toronto.

3.We have imported the Tamil tiger crisis which was responsible for a civil war which thousands of people. It is now public information that the Liberals were responsible for overlooking the terrorist fundraising that they knew was happening, all so they could win an election and have a fatter pension.

    4. We have imported the Muslim terrorist problem we see in Canada with Mohammed El-Masry and the Toronto 18 who wanted to behead the P.M and blow up the CBC.

    5. Omar Khadr.

Come on, is this the benefits of multiculturalism?

  2. Anyone who supports Honour killings, no matter which country, should be banned from coming to Canada.
Omar Khadr is not a symbol of multiculturalism. He is a Canadian citizen.

  3. "Omar Khadr is not a symbol of multiculturalism. He is a Canadian citizen."

    Where were his parents born?

Clearly,Chretien deserves much of the blame for allowing Khadr Sr. to return to Canada.

To be honest, this whole story is a disgrace to our military, to our country, to the left wing anti-Americans who embrace him, to the press for turning him into a celebrity.

I really hope he doesn't return to Canada with flowers and an adoring press because that would be................................

  4. Many religions and their associated cultures see women as less than men, and in some cases, the property of men. We support these notions, through participating in and offering tax breaks to them. We go to war for cultures that pass laws making it impossible for a woman to leave the home without escort or permission as in Afghanistan. It isn't multiculturalism that is at fault, it is the tolerance of misogyny in its many degrees.

  5. So, silly little anon #1 - your solution is that we only allow white people into the country?

I think if we are going to abandon mulitculturalism, we should simply go back to the people who first populated this country and let them decide who should be in or out. After all, every other person here is here because of a policy that allowed non-native Canadians to immigrate here.

I do not agree with that however. I would prefer a policy that forced stupid racist people to leave instead.

  6. May I also point out that this family, and these girls in particular, had an opportunity for a much better life here than they did in their country of origin. If these were indeed honour killings, they would have occured in their home country too. The difference is that in this country the perpetrators are being brought to justice.

A policy that prohibits people who believe in honour killings from immigrating here only serves to harm the women in the families.

  7. It's not the color of their skin or the language they speak that is the causing the problem here. It's their misogynistic culture, steeped in a medieval religion.
Immigrants need to be made very clear that freedom of religion in Canada does not have precedence over the rights of all citizens.

  8. Not just immigrants. Aren't there a bunch of people out there who believe that since their religion prohibits same sex marriage, we should not allow it in our country?

Or how about those civil servants who believe they should not be forced to endorse same sex marriage by conducting the ceremony?

Or did you mean religions other than Christianity?

I say we go back to traditional native culture and let that be the basis of our ethics.

  9. Where is the honour in killing four innocent women?...the system that allows and condones that kind of action should be condemned LOUDLY by all Canadians! The media should focus their attention on the rise in so-called honour killings .It's a wonder that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes don't use the Canadian Charter of Rights to claim it is in their heritage to do these killings...All Canadians of ANY descent are bound to follow Canadian laws to the exclusion of ALL others.. There can be no exceptions ,be they, SHARIA law, native Healing circles etc. I could not find a better example of misogeny than this story..Women in certain cultures are treated and regarded as chattel ,to be traded, forced into pre-arranged marriages, abused and denied the rights that all Canadian citizens take for granted..
What might pass for righteous and licit action in their native country will NOT be tolerated in Canada...Throw the book at all three and don't let them use their past culture as an excuse to get aeay with murder!

  10. "...the system that allows and condones that kind of action should be condemned LOUDLY by all Canadians!"

Well, these murders have not been condoned by Canadians. In fact, I am pretty sure they are being condemned by Canadians.

These people have been charged with first degree murder. If convicted they will get life in prison.
