Increasing the detachment in Kimmirut makes sense. That said, this new incident is atypical and merely a sad suicidal man acting out. Yes, it could have ended very badly but it does not reflect a larger problem:

The incident comes just days after Supt. Hilton Smee announced the detachment in Kimmirut, Nunavut, is being doubled in size because Mounties have been shot at there eight times over the last six years
