I must say I find the concept rather unappetizing. But is it 'morally' offensive as some suggest?
That depends on how you see eating animals.
If you see eating, say, beef as being 'wrong' (and that's a valid enough position) then eating seal heart is also wrong.
But if you see no moral issue with meat then eating seal heart is uncontentious except perhaps as to the nature of the slaughter.

It has nothing to do with eating. It has to do with following a custom done by the natives of this area. Ever heard of "walk a mile in their shoes"? All this nonsense about eating seal heart people are missing the point. Jean has endeared herself to these people by doing what they do - nothing more & nothing less. She's a trouper, no doubt about it.

Yes, I don't think this is really a moral issue. I have been a vegetarian for years and I would support the GG in what she did- her job. If the GG has any role other than proroguing parliament, it is to demonstrate the dynamism and multi-cultural nature of Canada. By taking part in the Inuit gathering she was doing just that. One can oppose the wider seal hunt but still support the GG in this case.

If only she had shown such jest dealing with Harper's demand for a prorogue. Or, maybe she did, but after digging after his heart, all she found was the Terminator underneath.
Is the media bored? Because this is a losing battle, Canadians get why GG ate seal heart, a gesture of respect for a culture.
