I suppose it's not the TTC's fault that a contractor broke into the tunnel at the St Clair station in Toronto but, hmmm, wasn't it the City of Toronto that hired the contractor to do the work that has made a major Toronto road unusable for years?
So Toronto can keep streetcars -- a quaint form of transit replaced everywhere but the Ex-Soviet Bloc?
Well, a $60 cab ride will do me good... .

The damage is not the ttc's problem but knowing for hours and then only having a couple buses ready to pick up thousands is a spectacular failure on their part to have contingency plans. None of the staff knew what was going on even after a couple of hours. That's where the anger is coming from and that's also why there is absolutely no way that the system will ever function properly. The more money they sink in it, the worse it gets. No one seems to feel its there responsibilty to find out why so many people are suddenly on the platform. No communication between HQ, the ticket booths or the constables. ZERO. Complete idiots.
San Francisco has streetcars and, while Rush Limbaugh may disagree, it was never in the Soviet bloc.
The streetcars - or trams, as they are called elsewhere - are popular and widespread. Melbourne's tram system is excellent and may in Europe are also first rate. There's nothing wrong with trams; I much prefer them over buses.
