I am a York University student and will be attending along with two of my girlfriends. We like that the different candidates are putting on these sorts of open-houses.
Rossi's strength may be to claim fiscal responsibility. I do think he is weak, so far, on building communities. I hope that he doesn't mention that we need more police officers in our communities.
Right now, I picture Rossi as the "Slash 'n Burn" candidate. He will fix Toronto's budget while slashing all kinds of services. I am a realist to know that we can't have everything on a limited budget. I do think Rossi needs to offer three to five things our communities need in priority. Will these be good community centres, roads, transit, shops and services, jobs, industries, parks, housing, festivals, or other things?
We need someone like Rocco to offer a choice; slash and burn is just anither word for balance the budget. And if there's no money there's no social programs!
To all of the the comments to date , has it even dawned on anyone that maybe, just maybe he will look for inefficiencies within the current system and a number of pet projects and cut those. Why do we need so many police or staff at the TTC - let's reduce the bureaucratic layers not the front line officers nor workers, and how about opening up construction bids to non-unionized staff? ... and yes it is time the people who pay all the taxes had some say and impact on where they are being directed before the whole city falls apart and that's not just bike lanes on major arteries - how much productivity does that reduce from motorists stuck in cars!!!!

Well, I think it's meant as saying the people of Toronto should run the city but point taken.
