The Guergis Affair

Alright, now my attention is focussed. Harper didn't just take her resignation -- he kicked her out of caucus.

He wouldn't do that for nothing.

And then there's this throw away line in the Post's Full Comment:

" ... just as the press is restricted by libel laws from repeating rumours about Ms. Guergis' personal problems that are happily circulated by her cabinet colleagues".

We'll hear more soon is my guess.

So the conservative talking heads are now telling us that "allegations" against a (now ex) cabinet minister can't be made public?

Huh? In what country is stating an allegation illegal? People are accused of things constantly, and I read all about them in the news. Seen it my whole life. What makes this particular instance so sacrosanct?

The National Post motto . . . "Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia."

10 to 1.
Socializing with known felons with full knowledge of their desire to access federal business. Drugs were provided gratis and thier open use in her home was witnessed.

Witnessed by whom?
Media reports of her husbands associates being under investigation for fraud and tax evasion would be the tip off. They would cough her up in a minute.

April 9, 2010 7:08 PM, that's a very Iffy comment.

A totally wild assed guess. Guergis might have been using her office and access as a vehicle or conduit for Jaffer's ventures. Having a wife in cabinet, he was able to market himself as an effective "insider" to potential clients. When Harp got wind of Rahim's travelling companions he feared an influence-peddling scandal, booted Guergis and fired it all off to the RCMP. And that's only a silly, wild-assed guess. But it does seem to fit the bizarre events.

It seems almost everything about Helena is phony. What about the name. I'd like to know how Guergis becomes Georges. Gu-er-gis is Gooergis is it not?

My spidey sense tells me they've been tracking her for awhile; maybe letting her husband get off lightly for his DUI charge in order to catch some bigger fish. Or maybe I'm watching too many Law and Order reruns.

We'll know all by Monday is my guess. After all don't the Cons and in the last decade the Liberals, always gossip?
