Conservative up in poll. It's not majority territory but it's a gap

Note it's not so much they went up as we went down. And, in fairness, a lot of this may be the summer sleepies and random walk -- but, despite everything, I don't like the direction and the consistency of the Conservative position.

If the Conservatives go up a bit more we'll see an election -- otherwise, if it stays like this, I see an election the second half of 2011.

Support for Stephen Harper's Conservatives has increased to give the party a lead of almost 10 percentage points over their Liberal rivals, a new EKOS poll suggests.

Asked how they would vote if an election were held "tomorrow," 34.4 per cent of those surveyed said they would vote for the Conservatives, compared with 25.1 per cent for the Liberals and 15.3 per cent for the NDP, according to the poll released exclusively to CBC News on Thursday.

Twelve per cent of respondents said they would vote for the Greens, while 10.6 per cent favoured the Bloc Québécois.

As the Liberal party strategists focus on imaginary threats, battles of decades past and trying to tell Canadians they don't want the Long Gun Registry to end, even though the real polls said otherwise, they continue to reap what they sow.

They miss every opportunity to connect with the mood of average people and Iggnatieff never misses an opportunity to say the wrong thing. As in; saying Canadians "don't want us to go through receipts of this meal and that meal." Oye..

They have no Rallying point either.

The abortion issue is another Okie.I suspect most Canadians are at least "uncomfortable" with our cuurent status on the subject; That is that there are no laws.

The Libs seem to be insisting that anyone who disagrees with the status quo is a right wing exctremist. They are wrong.

Evidence? The polls...

'EKOS queried 2,794 people by phone between May 12 and May 18'

Last weeks CBC At Issue panel ended with Allen Gregg saying
'get used to saying Deputy Prime Minister Jack Layton'...
It kinda focus' the mind a little.

I don't like Harper but I like Ignatieff even less. Why couldn't you guys have picked someone other than that arrogant prick?!

The abortion issue is one of the things I was referring to. I recently read that 2/3rds of Canadians do not support abortion without guidelines. Or in other words, wholesale abortion.

There is no challenge to access to an abortion in Canada, and stirring up a divisive issue like this is not proving to be a very smart thing to do.

Iggnatieff seems overly inclined to step in piles of brown stuff, and on the long gun registry issue Rex Murphy had a excellent take on it recently.

As Murphy sums it up, Iggnatieff has worked himself into a bad spot.

Fair enough Okie.

Some Libs. not James mind you, seem to be pushing hard with the "A" topic. I really believe that some of them think this issue will bring them the prize. It is currently the best example of what is wrong with this party. Many Liberal voters (not talking about the small minority that actually contribute financially) will not appreciate in the long run this current strategy of demonizing all those who disagree with the current laws.At the very least they will stay away.

The Libs obviously can't afford to alienate any of their base. This is why they cannot or will not discipline their own caucus who are flipping the bird at their leaders and continue to publicly support some restraint on abortion.

We didn't pick the arrogant prick. He was appointed. We voted against him. hat's why I'm no longer a Liberal.
