As the world's most powerful political leaders prepare to arrive in Toronto for the G20 Summit later this month, it appears that some locals are doing everything they can to get out of town.
In recent weeks, fences have been erected near some of the city's densest residential zones and locals have been told the meetings will result in mandatory business and road closures.
The security clampdowns come as officials brace for protests and security issues which could lead to more headaches throughout the city.
Given the logistical problems, it's little wonder why some locals have decided to get away during the weekend of June 26 and 27.
Companies like iTravel2000 Vacations are even offering a special "G20 Summit Sale" as a way to entice customers to take a trip.
Company representative Stuart Morris said many people have been calling and asking for anything, just to avoid the summit.
"We had people calling us and saying, out and out, 'I work downtown and want to get out for G20.
