I share "Anonymous"'s doubt. That the introduction of the law prohibiting something doesn't necessarily mean the pre-existence of that thing. Suppose I take an oath tomorrow that I won't consume alcoholic beverages, it doesn't automatically mean that I have consumed them sometime before tomorrow.
I came upon this post after seeing this law mentioned in Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Next. It'll be good if we can find the actual text of this particular law, and some preceding events which may have resulted in its existence.

In my opinion, women can certainly be soldiers and fill every rank in the CF, with the exception of infantry soldier.
A man can live in his own filth for weeks at a time, our immediate hygiene needs and maintenance are minimum.
As well, in a combat scenario, most men, through thousands of years of conditioning, will want to protect the female. This adds stress.
Simple facts.
Infantry should be large men who can pack a load, shoot well and have great bushcraft skills.
I am all for women fighter pilots, naval captains and tank commanders.
