Harper ramps up attacks on NDP, warns against ‘smiles and snake oil’

http://bit.ly/l8l7hz

This is so typical.

I don't think the NDP platform is fully thought out -- but there is no need to insult the platform.

In fact, there is much good sense in the NDP platform -- but it's lacking in fiscal balance. And that's why the Liberal Platform is better.

But the NDP platform not 'snake oil'.

It's an option for Canada - the wrong one I think - but it's as worthy of consideration and respect as the Conservative option (which I also think wrong).

Consider the merits -- not just the insults.

Seems like Harper is now officially worried.

I agree that politicians should never insult their opponents policies. In doing so they insult the individuals who believe in that policy.

I think it is one reason why Mr Ignatieff has failed to gain traction with the public. He is completely derisive and dismissive of his opponents views and thereby the 30-40% of people that support them. Calling your opponents policies 'stupid' might motivate your core, but it does nothing to expand your favoue.
