Whitby, Ont. - Two children are now in the care of the Durham Children's Aid Society after they were found alone in a filthy Whitby apartment that was littered with drug paraphernalia.
Durham police were at an apartment complex in the Dundas and Lakeridge Road area at 1 a.m., Monday, on another matter when they knocked on a door on the 20th floor.
A child answered the door and said her mother wasn't home.
The officers found a five-year-old girl, attempting to bottle feed her eight-month-old brother who wouldn't stop crying.
A 23-year-old Whitby woman is charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking and failing to protect her children.
