Three Cdn. soldiers wounded, boy killed after suicide bomber hits convoy in Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Three Canadian soldiers are reported to have been wounded while a boy has been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a Canadian military convoy in Kandahar.

Canadian Forces spokesman Capt. Fraser Clark says three soldiers were wounded and sent for treatment at Kandahar airfield.

A police officer says one boy was killed and two other boys were wounded in the attack.

One military vehicle appeared to be damaged, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

In western Farah province, a U.S.-led coalition soldier was killed during an operation Sunday, the coalition said in a statement. It did not provide any further details.

Insurgents have been targeting Afghan, U.S. and other foreign troops in their attempts to weaken the government of President Hamid Karzai.

Over 1,200 people - mostly militants - have died in insurgency-related violence so far this year, according to an AP count.
