Montreal - The Supreme Court will hear BCE's appeal of a lower court decision that has thrown the sale of the company into jeopardy.
The court granted leave to appeal the case Monday.
Lawyers will argue the case in front of the court in just over two weeks on June 17.
BCE had said if the Quebec Court of Appeal's ruling to block the sale of the company is allowed to stand that it will change the way company directors fulfill their duties.
The parent company of Bell Canada says the appeal court made a mistake by imposing obligations on directors to consider and protect the economic interests of both the owners and creditors of a company.
The takeover by a group of investors led by the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan could be threatened unless the Supreme Court overturns the lower court ruling.
