I live in Southern Ontario near where black bears were seen.
Also, wolves and coyotes are coming into our town...attacking people pets. I live right in town and last Friday a wolf crossed our street and got a cat.....the screech went right through you.
Wolves have been hanging around railway tracks trying to get deer.
Sandi, predators often come into populated areas for two reasons - loss of wild habitat and plentiful prey in built-up areas. I know that deer populations are really increasing which brings the deer nearer urban areas with the predators in tow.

I took it just north west of the GTA -- I used a zoom and wasn't actually all that close
