Tories slammed for burying negative reports

In fairness this is hardly something very new or limited to this government (i'd like to say it was but that just ain't so!). Indeed, it's a common enough lawyer's trick to bury a very damaging document in a host of other, not very important, documents -- not a nice trick perhaps but hardly new. One interesting point, though, is that the National Post slammed the Feds for this in a front page editorial -- perhaps the trick, though old, surprised them?

OTTAWA - The Harper government's timing for the release of some unflattering reports has critics scratching their heads over the Conservatives' concept of transparency.

The Tories took office promising clean, open governance and vowing not to practice the same old politics as previous governments. But they've stuck to one tried and true tactic - releasing negative news when it will get the least media attention.

They have fallen flat on their faces with this whole transparency thing. I just roll my eyes and sigh every time I see one of these. The Conservatives think they are more noble, but they aren't.

Truth there Marjham mon. The trouble is that saying we are no better than the Tories doesn't cut a lot of ice!

Oh, so Harper is obligated to release the documents when the left wing MSM wants them.

They have the material, release them where and when you want to do so.

Harper released the documents, and the MSM should have no trouble giving the info to their leftist friends.

The Canadian Press is a liberal propoganda tool, and this article is a perfect example of their bias.

Remember, Harper hasn't yet stolen 100 million dollars or had any friends sentenced to the pen, yet.

Hmmmm if the reports are SO negative, why is the media reporting on the timing, instead of the reports?

If a 20 year old Mulroney affair is news, and a non-MP making a speech about "fire walls" a decade ago is news, I'm sure that the media and Libs can bash the reports 4 days after their release.

But, the reports are not negative enough to warrant precious ink. so make the story into 'lack transparency..'
because we are all so stupid, right?

Well, Wilson, I suppose they might be reporting on it because one of the opposition parties are raising a ruckus about it.

Maybe?

And in doing so the opposition has garnered attention on the reports.

So I guess you're complimenting the liberals on their strategy in some backass way that only you can fathom.
