Alberta teen murdered

This is a dreadful story and the killer is a beast (well, that insults animals). But note, the killer here dodn't use a gun -- or even a knife. He used a rope, something that no one has ever suggested banning. Sadly, when dealing with mentally disturbed killers (and this killer certainly is one) weapons of convenience are enough. No weapons ban would have saved this young woman.

Alberta girl murdered in front of two young boys

A small community west of Edmonton is in shock after a 14-year-old girl was killed in broad daylight while out for a walk on a wooded path.

Emily Joy Stauffer was killed Saturday in east Edson at about 4:45 p.m. RCMP said she was approached by a man while on her walk.

Two young boys, believed to be nine and 12 years old, witnessed the attack. They saw a man attacking the teenage girl and rushed to a nearby home on their bikes to get help, but it was too late.

A man who lives close to the crime scene told CTV Edmonton he was listening to his police scanner when he heard about the attack.

By the time he got to the pathway, he said he saw police performing CPR on the girl. He said it looked like the girl was strangled with a rope.
