India launches moon mission

What a remarkable achievement! In a generation India has gone from rural poverty to landing on the moon. This is something for the whole world to admire.

There is no "from". Rural poverty - abject poverty including slums right next to high rises - is still the norm. I'll bet there are slums not 1 Km from the launch pad.

There are slums, to be sure. They are more than "slums", however, as they are woven into the fatalistic, karma-believing fabric of the nation. I've been to those "slums", and seen color TVs, stolen electricity, and of course, the open sewers... The challenge is - I don't know... maybe - related to the 1 Billion people, and a severe shortage of land and housing, while suffering some of the most inflated home prices in the world (check the price of Mumbai real estate lately?)...

Still a remarkable accomplishment in such a short time for a very ambitious nation.
