B.C. black bear pops in for fast food
VANCOUVER (CBC) - It can be hard to resist popping into a fast food restaurant for a quick bite to eat, including it seems, for at least one black bear in B.C.
Last Thursday morning, Rebecca Branton had just opened up a Subway restaurant in the north coast town of Kitimat, when her first visitor began sniffing around the front door.

Last Thursday morning, Rebecca Branton had just opened up a Subway restaurant in the north coast town of Kitimat, when her first visitor began sniffing around the front door.
"I was just back there making soup ... but I saw the door open and it was a bear," she told CBC News.
The young bear's every move was captured by nine video cameras in the shop, including how it managed to grab the handle of the front door and pull it open.
"I thought he'd used the handicap button, but instead he opened it just like a human," said Branton.

What a cute story. I have read another story about a bear that opened a screen door and entered the kitchen of a rural restaurant and walked over to the freezer and took out a "mud pie" and walked back out through the door with it in a very casual manner. The restaurant owner also noted how humalike bear was. He said he seemed like a person in a bear suit he was so humanlike in his behavior. I recall reading that the Inuits in the Arctic regions were convinced the polar bears were really people dressed in polar bear skins so they could live in the Arctic in secret!! I noticed how clever and emotionally attached to Mr. Doerflein Knut acted when watching his Youtubes and Webshots entries. And Flocke is downright precocious.
