Soul searching in the Liberal Party

I am getting a flood of emails directed personally to 'James C. Morton' or sometimes 'Jim' or sometimes 'Morton' telling me how the author has agonised over the future of the Liberal Party and we need to 'xyz'.

Whatever.

I suspect the emails are driven in some way by Leadership concerns -- but even if not we don't need a lot of heavy thinking. We know what needs doing -- it's just the implementation is hard and volunteers are down in the mouth because of the election.

What do we need?

Money, a Leader who connects with Canadians and a clear message.

We'll have a new Leader soon.

The message of a centerist party concerned for people (and so the economy, the environment and criminal law -- to help people and not just as objects in themselves) is there and just needs clarification.

So money is left. Here's where the real work will be but that work won't take soul searching.

I agree that money is, indeed, what we Libs need; however, it may be difficult to raise during uncertain economic times. Still, I hope there are enough people out there fed up with Harper to contribute. A lot will hinge on who emerges as leader.
