Angels on a pin

This week's Times Literary Supplement points out that, during the Middle Ages, however defined, no one ever discussed how many angels could dance on the head of a pin.

That factoid got me thinking about baseless attacks that stick. Why do we assume such a mindless debate would occupy the medieval mind?

If any readers have suggestions I'd be glad to know.

(It's akin to believing Liberals are wild spenders -- in fact Liberals eliminate deficits and are good managers -- there may be reasons to oppose a federal Liberal government but the economy isn't one of them -- Paul Martin's work in finance would be good work as Liberal, Conservative, NDP or BQ)
