But for how long?
Parliament is now revealed as a game of chicken and the trouble with chicken is that it's damn dangerous.
I expected we wouldn't see an election till spring 2010 but now I can imagine it far sooner.
The Liberals have found their voice and that means the Conservatives will have to compromise or face an election. They made the right choice today -- but some time soon the situation won't be resolved so easily.

It's not off the table at all, James. Did you miss the Liberals planning to introduce a measure of non-confidence on Monday, and Harper cancelling the opposition day? The earliest that it can be voted on is Dec 8... but it will be voted on.
Scott,
I was misinformed -- the radio in TO said Harper backed off. I can't believe we are looking at an election over something not campaigned on or even mentioned in the Throne Speech!
There will be no election if this happens:
“If the non-confidence motion passes, the Liberals and New Democrats would visit Gov.-Gen. MichaĆ«lle Jean to request her permission to try to form a coalition government."

Hope you're right!
