Sitting in a Green Room

Sitting in a Green Room is a strange experience. Everyone is waiting to see something to the media. Next to me is a woman who, I gather, wrote a book and who careful avoids even noticing my existence. I gather she is a celebrity (I later learn who she is and she is a celebrity).

I'm here to sell a project between the Canadian Somali Congress and the Canadian Jewish Congress -- a mentoring project for young Somali students and professionals. It's a good project but what's strange is pitching it amongst books, fashion and how to set up a new apartment.

Well, we're all salespeople.

I guess cultural collaboration needs to be jazzed up a bit with book ends and belt buckles in order to be sold, huh? Sad, but most people want to be entertained by television. If they happen to learn something in the process, it's sort of a happy accident.
