Big federalist win in Quebec

Liberal Leader Jean Charest will win a third straight mandate in Quebec, and his second majority government, according to a CTV projection. Did the crisis in Ottawa help? My sense is it didn't have much effect at all but my information is largely anglo Quebecers so it may be off.

Regardless, the win is huge -- it suggests that in Quebec the separatist forces have lost much of their luster -- and while federally the Bloc exists it is more likely to be a pro-Quebec as opposed to anti-Canada force (I know, I expect lots of comments pointing out how wrong I am but, hey, that's why comments are there!)

If the Liberal win is confirmed, Charest would be the first premier to secure three consecutive election victories in the province since Maurice Duplessis in 1952.

Charest needs 63 of 125 seats to win a majority. Roughly an hour after the polls closed, the Liberals had won or were leading in dozens of ridings, edging past that number:

Liberals: 70
Parti Quebecois: 47
ADQ: 6
Quebec Solidaire: 1
