Stealing from a thief a bad idea ...

Here's a story -- a car thief steals a stolen car ... .

It wasn't a very Good Friday for five Toronto people riding in a stolen vehicle near Yorkdale Mall.

An OPP officer spotted the stolen vehicle that was being driven along the eastbound Highway 401 collector lanes just before 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

The officer attempted to stop the car, but the vehicle fled by pulling off the highway and driving into the Yorkdale Mall area.

Police then backed off the chase because of safety concerns.

The driver stopped at the mall and the passengers started to get out of the vehicle.
But the parking spot the driver chose was in a security area, and two security guards chased down the driver, before arresting him.
...
Police say the driver took the car from a variety store parking lot near Airport and Derry Road. But what he didn't know, investigators claim, is that he had allegedly stolen the vehicle from another vehicle thief.

The car had been reported stolen last month.
