If that were true then no one could ever be Prime Minister. The experiences of a Prairie Canadian are very different from those of a Maritimer. An MP from Vancouver may well have never lived in Quebec. Nevertheless, Westerns are perfectly capable to become Prime Minister. Canadians are diverse and that is a strength not a weakness. Bottom line we are all "from away".
Michael Ignatieff is Canadian; enough said. The question is not whether he is Canadian. The question is will he make a good Prime Minister and to that question the answer is yes.

I looked a Murphy's bio...hmmmm.
He was born in Newfoundland in March 1947 - 2 years before Newfoundland became part of Canada - so he isn't technically a born Canadian.
He graduated from Memorial University in 1968, and promptly went to England to study at Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar. He did not, however, receive an Oxford degree.
Murphy has run for office in three Newfoundland provincial elections, in 1975 as a Tory, and in 1985 and 1987 as a Liberal. He lost all three times. He also worked in the 1980s as executive assistant to Clyde Wells.
Do you suppose that possibly Murphy is jealous of Ignatieff? I wonder. Seems like Ignatieff has succeeded where Murphy has failed.
"The question is will he make a good Prime Minister and to that question the answer is yes."
Well said. By forcing Harper to co-operate rather than forcing an election, Ignatieff has demonstrated that he is listening to Canadians, and that is one of many reasons why he will make a good PM. If we get this message out, the attacks won't matter.
To hear the media - or Stephen Harper - believes the entire country holds their collective breath awaiting the latest flogging or annointment from the media - or Stephen Harper.
Who gives a rats ass?
All of us who want Harperites out should be working to get/shame voters out for the next election. Get the electorate out and the Nazis bastard is gone...simple, huh?
Does Rex Murphy understand Canada? I do not think so. I live further away from Toronto than either Newfoundland or London if that's how we are judging.
If anything, having lived in the UK and the US for many years, he has the experience and knowledge of how governments work in different countries. He definitely will make a good PM. A man with such knowledge and intelligence is bound to know everything about a country like ours.
Take care, Elli
