Morton, bias Liberal blogger

A reader suggested that I should preface any comments on government legislation by saying I am biased as being a Liberal blogger.

I disagree in the specific case -- the waiver of sovereign immunity -- largely because my position has nothing to do with Party politics. I had concerns with the legislation suggested by the Liberals and had the same concerns about the Conservative position.

Note the use of the word 'had'. I have now read the proposed legislation and my concerns are largely assuaged.

But not because the concerns are addressed -- rather because the legislation is so highly limited as to be effectively irrelevant.

Since the legislation will achieve nothing much, beyond some symbolism (and I grant that has a value), there is little real danger of it being misused. So my concerns are addressed.
