Canadian family law treats as a parent someone who acted as a parent (a bit over simplified, it varies from province to province).
The Bible often enough speaks of G-d as a father, though without suggestion of biological descent: see, for example, John 15:16.
Michael Jackson's kids know who their father was. That's enough.

Extremely oversimplified and wrong.
I've been in my eldest' life since she was 4 months old. I'm not the biological father, but he has never seen her.
I've been there since the beginning and consider her my daughter.
Since I am not the biological father, the courts have said that I don't any rights to see her.
The mother has started a campaign of parental alienation. My eldest is 13 at the moment (12 when this started) - I have absolutely no contact.
I know the judges said that they found the mother spiteful in her actions, but there was nothing they could do legally in their judgments.
I could, of course spend money, that I don't have to try and get visitation rights but that would just cause a bigger rift all around and cost at least 20 000$ above the 40 000$ already spent....
I've raised her but I have no rights. Money wins in the end.
And of course, no court will separate the blood sisters (I also have a younger daughter). So the mother gets to move anywhere she wants and I am forced to follow around if I want continued "shared custody"....
This is after all the psycho-legal evaluations that recommended "shared custody"....
I find your post personally hurtful and wrong. Money wins in the end. There is no justice.
I'm sorry if my Post was hurtful to you -- but if anything, my point is that based on what you say, you are the father -- and should be considered same. Good luck.
