Driving on a lonely country road (or as close to that as you get in southern Ontario) I saw three hawks sitting on light standards waiting for breakfast. Somehow they manage to live amongst humans. Remarkable!

It really is amazing how adaptable wildlife is to human activity. Even in the city, there is no shortage of mammals you would expect to find only in wild areas, skunks, raccoons, etc. Once they locate a food supply, they are very good at finding nesting spots close by for the winter, much to our dismay.
