An educational psychologist and expert on multiculturalism has thrown her hat in the federal political ring with hopes of becoming the third female to represent Thornhill since the riding was created.
Dr. Karen Mock will be the Liberal party's candidate in the next federal election, James Morton, president of the Thornhill Federal Liberal Riding Association, announced last week.
Considered a pioneer in the field of multicultural teacher education, Dr. Mock is past executive director and CEO of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation and the former national director for the League for Human Rights of B'nai Brith Canada.

All women and all Jews. No one else lives in Thornhill???
ReplyDeleteI hope attracting such high-caliber candidates plays out on the federal level. Provincially I'm satisfied with how they conduct themselves but I really don't think they're making use of the MP's they have in parliament.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we ever hear much from Carolyn Bennett or Cotler? It's nice that McCallum gets decent face time (former RBC VP and all) but the kind of brainpower not being used is disappointing. Hopefully this person, if she gets elected, isn't silenced on the backbenches.
Harper has to be the man in the spotlight because there's not much substance on that side of the aisle, but there's no reason for the Liberals to do the same with their own leader.
Ok rant over. Good luck to her.
