Time will tell

In politics things can happen quickly or they can take a long time; Liberals know things take time.

Politics Lester Pearson was elected Liberal leader in 1958 but became Prime Minister only in 1963. As Prime Minister he brought in universal health care, the Canada Pension Plan and Canada Student Loans, and established a new national flag, the Maple Leaf.

The NDP and Bloc have acted to avoid an immediate Federal election but, sooner or later, the Harper government will fall. Regardless when that happens Michael Ignatieff's Liberals will be ready.

  1. Yep he did all those things in a Minority government with the NDP holding the balance of power. Forcing him to do what was right for Canadians. Hmmmmm where do I see that going on now? NDP want more help for out of work Canadians and the Liberals voted against it??? Hmmmmm Iggy is no Pearson.

  2. Yeah, 'cause the old flag that Canadian soldiers fought under wasn't good enough. So now we have the red rag with the oh so Canadian maple leaf bordered by two coincidentally "Liberal red" bars. Such a work of art it is a wonder no one ever thought of it before.

Oh, and that other stuff has worked out real good, too. A medical plan where everyone gets untimely treatment equally, a pension plan that looks suspiciously like a ponzi scheme, and a student loan program that almost collapsed because students decided they shouldn't have to repay them. Yeah, that Pearson/NDP thing was a great time for Canada.

  3. The Rat....The flag is the colour of the Country's colours... nothing to do with the Liberals who take their colours from the Country colours, also.
The Canada pension plan was fine until Harper got hold of it...he would love to get rid of it , too. Are you paranoid or insane?

  4. Agreed with Anon, our flag is constructed from our national symbols and colors. It has nothing to do with the political views of a person. Besides, it's a pretty flag too. Not dull and boring like most flags that only consist of three stripes or even less.

    Take care, Ella

  5. All I can say is thank God Harper had the taste and sense to be sure the flag that the soldiers of Vimy fought and died under flies over the ridge. Sure, the raggy piece of crap that Pearson and the Liberals created is there, too, and what a shame that it is; a flag created by the party that so dishonoured and disregarded our military and it's proud heritage.

See at the flag of MY Canada here.

  6. I'll have you know that people around the world like the Canadian flag and so do I. While working overseas for 11 years, everytime I saw the Canadian flag within a group of flags, it stood out and continues to do so. The other only flag that stands out is the South Korean flag. Be proud of our flag and stop your soap box attempt at trying to label it. Cheers, Anne
