I watched the video of you at the Senate Committee hearings for Bill C-15.
Thank you for bringing light to the draconian nature of this bill!
Mandatory minimums would be expensive and counter-productive, but hey, that doesn't matter to the perception-over-facts Conservative government.
Until the general public is more informed about the dynamics of prohibition, and therefore less susceptible of being manipulated, politicians will continue to effectively use "drugs" as a bogey man and "tough on crime" policies as a vote getter.
I appreciated Mr. Morton's presentation at the Bill C-15 hearings. I wish Ignatieff and the Liberals had consulted with people like Mr. Morton before supporting Bill C-15.
Nobody wants to be seen as soft on crime , but that doesn't mean we have to be dumb on crime either. Mandatory minimums don't work. That's why when asked for what proof or studies he has that they do work , the Justice Minister replies "The Canadian people have told us this is right"
Thanks for your honesty in these uncertain times Mr. Morton.

FrankD,
Do you by chance have the link to that video. I'd like to watch it too. Thanks.
I'll see what I can do.
If I can make that happen I'll post a link here.
(FYI, I'm missing the end of the segment with James in it.)
