Yet more polling

A new poll suggests the federal Conservatives continue to hold a healthy lead over the Liberals, but remain well shy of majority territory.

The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey put the Tories at 35 per cent nationally, compared with 28 per cent for the Liberals.

The NDP was at 15 per cent, while the Greens and Bloc Quebecois were tied at 10 per cent.

The Conservatives jumped to a four-point lead in Ontario with 40 per cent support, and they continued to dominate in the West.

However, the Tories trailed badly in Quebec at just 15 per cent - nine points back of the Liberals and 26 points behind the Bloc.

You should look at the Harris Decima Poll movement for the last 3 months

Bob Hepburn wrote a great article in The Star comparing MI to Obama. If that narrative can regain some traction, then we can soon start inflating the Iggymania balloons again.

Give me a break. Obama won the leadership of his party by defeating the establishment's choice, Hillary, and he did this by mobilizing an effective and brilliant grassroots campaign. Ignatieff won the leadership of the party because the establishment cancelled our leadership race, thereby eliminating any grassroots involvement. Ignatieff is Canada's anti-Obama; I never thought anyone could make Harper look down-to-earth.

Bob Hepburn is the perfect article to prove some people are out of touch with reality and think blaming or changing a leader can fix it.

These two articles has less kool-aid consumed.

This poll. That poll. There is only one poll that counts! Once they call an election then we'll all know!

The EKOS poll has the Libs at 25.5%, the same as the Alliance in the year 2000.

It's all fine and dandy to say only one poll counts. However, if you're losing public support left right and centre (no pun intended) you better figure out what you're doing wrong. When the level of support you have is below your base you know what ever you're doing is even alienating your base. When your peak support is equal to what has been considered your base support you know you're not appealing to many ordinary Canadians. And if you know all this and don't do anything about it ... well ... you deserve what you get. No matter how you slice it Ignatieff's leadership has been a disaster.

You people do realize that telephone polls are becoming increasingly irrelavent.

Who answers phone calls from unknown numbers anymore, I sure don't, my friends sure don't.

Then take into account the number of people who use cell phones only and young people who strictly text message on phones, The phone as a survey mechanism is becoming useless.

With scammers galore on the phone, I know of none of my friends and family who will give any information to an unknown calling party and most like me simply refuse to answer unknown calls and let unknown calls go to voisemail.
