Christmas message from Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff

OTTAWA – Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff made the following statement to Canadians celebrating Christmas:

"Across the country, Canadians are gathering with friends and loved ones to celebrate Christmas.  On this joyous day, we also celebrate the compassion, generosity and commitment to peace that make us who we are as a country.

We are a country of good neighbours, and the Christmas season is a time when giving and compassion brings out the best in us. The true Christmas spirit is reflected in our dedication to help the less fortunate in our communities and to spread the message of peace and understanding throughout the world. We also take time to honour our troops stationed overseas, so far away from home and family, who strive each day to bring peace and understanding to areas of conflict.  Our thoughts are with you on this day.

On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, may the joy of the holidays renew our commitment to working together for a future of peace, opportunity, and hope.  Merry Christmas to you and yours." -
