The documentary, "Knut and Friends" was very interesting - a comparison of the development of bear cubs under three different sets of circumstances. Knut, raised by his human keeper Thomas Dorflein, three polar bear cubs raised by their mother in the wild, and two orphaned brown bear cubs on their own in the woods. As the documentary notes, all faced great obstacles to survive. Regarding Knut, his early imprinting/bonding with humans unfortunately limited interactions with his own species, and one can only hope he will adapt to life with limited human contact.
