Ontario college instructors have voted to give their union a mandate to strike but it appears a walkout is at least a month away.
Ted Montgomery, chair of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union bargaining team for college faculty, said 57 per cent of those voting approved the mandate.
"We will be talking to the mediator and employer," Montgomery said, adding there will be no walkout before mid-February. "They've said publicly if there is an affirmative strike vote they will return to the bargaining table and we will invite them to do that as soon as possible."
