"Radical" cleric

Perhaps I am missing something but someone who encourages the murder of Hindus and Jews should be called something other than "radical":

NAIROBI, Kenya – A protest over the arrest of a radical Jamaican-born cleric turned deadly Friday as police fired shots and tear gas into a crowd of Muslim demonstrators.

Hundreds took to the streets following prayers at a downtown Jamai mosque, shouting "Allah Akbar" and calling for the release of Sheikh Abdullah al Faisal. One protester was killed and others injured as police clashed with rock-throwing youths, ensnarling Nairobi's downtown traffic and shutting down businesses.
...
Kenya has tried unsuccessfully to deport al Faisal, claiming he is a security risk to the country. The controversial cleric was jailed for four years in the UK for soliciting the murder of Jews and Hindus before he was deported in to Jamaica in 2007.

Why? Isn't that kind of what "radical" means?
