Why should we care?

After all, Parliament not sitting for a couple of months isn't such a big deal. It's not very likely that Stephen Harper will take the opportunity to seize a power more absolute than he already has. And as for the legislation that is lost, well, much of it is wrong headed to begin with and worthy of conditional support at best.

So why care?

Well, imagine finding out that there's a 50c charge on your credit card for a telephone call you didn't make. It's no big deal. But... it's a harbinger of problems that may come. And so you don't ignore it -- you find out who took your credit card.
