... In accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act ...

"Dear Toyota Owner" the letter begins.

Then it explains there may be a safety issue -- specifically the accelerator may become "stuck in a partially depressed position" ... "resulting in serious injury or death".

So far so partially depressing.

But then the letter goes on to say Toyota isn't actually recalling the vehicles (because they don't have a fix) and so this letter ("sent in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act") is merely to say a fix is coming. (and if you call the dealer, or at least when I did, they will avoid the issue and tell you not to believe everything you read).

I am feeling a Ford product might make sense next time... .

Yep dealers can be really stupid. Saw a news report on the issue with the dealer putting his hands out "no cameras - go away". Huge negative news story out there everywhere about his products and he pushes away an opportunity to comment and put his own spin on the story.
