Easter Sunday

Easter (Ēostre (Old English); Greek: Πάσχα Paskha) is the central religious feast in the Christian liturgical year. It is a time of rebirth and renewal.

Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. This resurrection is celebrated and remembered on Easter Day or Easter Sunday.

Traditionally the Easter Season lasted for the forty days from Easter Day until Ascension Day but now officially lasts for the fifty days until Pentecost.

The first week of the Easter Season is known as Easter Week or the Octave of Easter. Easter also marks the end of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer, and penance.

Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The First Council of Nicaea (CE 325) established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the vernal equinox.

Ecclesiastically, the equinox is reckoned to be on March 21 (regardless of the astronomically correct date), and the "Full Moon" is not necessarily the astronomically correct date. The date of Easter therefore varies between March 22 and April 25.

I watched a special last year and was hoping it would be on this year.

Historians say:

- So-called virgins birth were not unusual (Alexander the Great being one). They were not virgin births, there is no such thing. They were a cover up for illegitimate kids, usually the father was the King (who in those days was also referred to as God)

- When Christ died, it was the "women" who first has weekly feasts to celebrate him. The men didn't like it (man control thing) and took over. The men didn't cook so has wine and crackers, hence the eucharist.

- there's more from historians.

In the end, all this church stuff is "man-made". Get it? MAN MADE.

It's time for people to face facts and get more spiritual individually instead of organized religions set up to "control".

Christ did not believe in organized religions, and it seems he was right:

Public Prayer & Displays of Faith: And when thou pray, thou shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in
the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret…
[Matthew 6:6 & 7]

Certainly as to the last -- pray but do so in private. I once came on a judge praying before giving a decision -- he wanted wisdom but was unhappy I saw him -- he said it"s not to show off that he prays.
