OTTAWA - Stephen Harper's Conservatives have sustained little lasting damage from an unproductive, acrimonious and scandal-plagued parliamentary session, a new poll suggests.
The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey indicates the Tories emerged from the session with 34 per cent support — a solid seven-point lead over the Liberals.
The NDP were at 17 per cent nationally and the Greens at 10 per cent.
While the Tories were still well short of the support level they'd need to win a majority, the poll suggests they've rebounded from a precipitous slide that followed Prime Minister Harper's unpopular decision late last year to suspend Parliament until early March.
As the session sputtered to a close last week, the Tories were leading in every region of the country, except Quebec where the Bloc Quebecois strengthened its grip on the province, the poll indicates.

There a few men in History who brainwashed their people somehow and Harper is one... nothing bad sticks because "the beloved leader
he would never do anything wrong"..
Don't get me wrong I have read letters to the Globe and CBC that speak to that effect.
Brainwashing? Hardly necessary when most of the media in Canada is right-wing and when the official opposition leader is almost as right-wing (and wrong) on economic, civil liberties issues and social policy.
Add in an the idiotacracy we now call Canada and it's really not that surprising.
My only question is when will the liberal grassroots finally get pissed off enough to toss the right-light "senior" liberals from their positions of power/influence from the party?
Brainwashing...thats funny. Provincial Cons are saying the same thing about McGuinty. In both cases...its the leadership of the opposition that's missing.

It really doesn't matter how poorly Harper governs when the voting public doesn't perceive a viable alternative in the wings. Don't blame the public for the failures in LPC leadership.
Harper brainwashed me with help of the right wing Canadian media?
Wow...delusion abounds.
Clearly some Liberals are baffled that Canadians have not put them back to their rightful place as the natural governing party. Clearly some Liberals still don't get it.
Until they do the Libs will remain detathced from the concerns and values of real Canadians.
