Black bail hearing

The bail hearing for Montreal-born media baron Conrad Black has begun in Chicago, after a brief delay while U.S. District Court Judge Amy St. Eve dealt with other cases.

Lawyers for Black have argued in favour of him being allowed to return to Canada, where he owns a home in Toronto.

But prosecutors have taken issue with his need to leave the United States, since Black maintains access to a Florida home where he is able to stay.

A $2-million US bond has been set for his release.
