Lead editorial as to why getting rid of prison farms was bad. Columns on why incarceration is overused and why victimless crimes are victimless; why rehabilitation should be the goal of criminal justice; and why we need special road taxes to encourage the use of public transit. Letters to the editor complaining about the editorial view that Omar Khadr should be repatriated.

If the Star did all this everyone would say the drift to the left is extreme.

Of course the Post isn't a "leftist rag". But it does consider matters and judges them (at least sometimes) on the evidence.

Facts, not ideology, must drive policy.
