The vote to kill the long-gun registry later this month is shaping up to be a squeaker with yet another NDP MP pulling out his support for the Conservative private member’s bill.
“We think it is going to be a nail biter quite frankly,” Liberal MP Frank Valeriote (Guelph) told a news conference Tuesday launching a campaign to embarrass NDP Leader Jack Layton into whipping his caucus to vote against the Conservative effort to scrap the registry.
The Liberals figure that four of seven undecided NDP MPs would have to support the bill in order for it to pass.

Michael Ignatieff is a appointed leader who has not faced a leadership convention. Democracy is not his strong point. His whipping of the vote is an offence against the voters of Canada. He should be mistrusted by all those who believe in democracy. He has the potential to become the most undemocratic, tyrannical, politician to ever run for PM. God help us if he ever becomes the PM.

The death of the long gun registry is CPC core policy (Libs might want to look that word up).
All CPC MPs campaigned supporting this policy.
Not all Cons are in rural, non-QC ridings. The MP Glen Pearson noted he was told by some Cons. MP's that they had to vote to kill it:
"there are a number Conservative MPs who despise their party’s position but who are whipped to support it – they have told me this personally."

It's a really big red tent with plenty of room for folks who pay lip service to rights and democracy but still support party insiders appointing a leader in their name. It's little wonder that sad and tattered red tent even stays up considering how it flaps about in the political breeze.

The reason the registry should die is because it is a monumental waste of funds. $2 Billion dollars would go a long way towards helping at risk neighbourhoods to improve. People's socio-economic situations dictate as a cause of crime and the registry does nothing to help that. Law abiding citizens are not the problem. Please review the paper:
