A palace revolt?

You have to give Maxime Bernier credit -- there aren't many in his caucus who'll stand up to the PMO to defend principle.

As I said elsewhere, perhaps because I am a liberal, I don't see funding hockey arenas as a bad thing.

Still, I wonder if Bernier is starting a small palace revolt?

"Saying that money doesn't grow on trees, Conservative MP and former cabinet minister Maxime Bernier has become the main federal voice against government funding for a new hockey arena in Quebec City. "

This is not a hockey arena that can be used by the general population - it's a big league arena, a pro sports complex. The thinking is that it will help Quebec City get a Hockey team and the Olympics...

Harper is hoping to get votes in the Quebec region - since when do you encourage purely partisan politics?
