John Baird says the long gun registry is a child of Toronto elites. I guess the Toronto elites are broader than I thought. They include Quebecers who sought the registry in the wake of the Montreal massacre and Chiefs of Police across Canada.

I'm a Liberal, but I don't like Ignatieff so I won't be voting Liberal next time. I'd like to vote Conservative but dumb ass statements like this prevent me from doing that. It's totally irresponsible to try to win votes by campaigning against Toronto. It's no better than if the Liberals, or any other party, directly campaigned against Alberta. This is exactly the type of mean-spirited, divisive politics that the Tories play the prevent them from winning voters like me. If Liberals want to know why they're stuck at 30% they should look at Ignatieff. If Tories want to know why there not much further ahead they should look at these statements. A pox on both your houses!
If I thought Ignatieff was that much different I'd do the same. But I have serious doubts that he is and I don't trust him at all. Furthermore, I can still vote strategically and assist in the removal of Harper. I'm not left wing enough to really be an NDP support, but I do have a social conscience and appreciate the benefits of the NDPs presence. So I can vote NDP and still assist in remove Harper. I was properly to definitive when I wrote "I won't be voting Liberal next time." Sometimes I think I might. But it is highly unlikely. The only thing I'm looking forward to is after the next election when Ignatieff will be replaced.
The Toronto elite, still miffed that Ottawa became the capital of Canada. A self centered group that believes it can run the whole country without giving a hoot about the people of the North or West. Some individuals, who escape to the North or West, can recover and become good Canadians. Some even start to understand their fellow Canadians and Canada.
