Be careful what you say before the judge arrives

In Alberta, well before a judge comes into court, a microphone is turned on inside the courtroom that the judge can hear!

Jeebus, if they'd had that in BC I can't imagine how many times I'd have been fried! That is seriously scary stuff. What if you're discussing sensitive, privileged information relevant to your client's case?

I can see a need for Maxwell Smart's "Cone of Silence" in Alberta courtrooms.

I remember when they did away with court reporters in AB courtrooms, people lost jobs - maybe the microphone is a replacement.

I don't know where you get this from. The microphone records. It does not amplify and it certainly does not broadcast into the judge's chambers. The Clerks announce it before they turn the mics on to record.
