Cape Dorset violence demands action

If two boys in Grade 9 picked up guns and began firing randomly at houses in Ottawa, Montreal or Calgary, the country would take notice.

If, after that incident, the community's entire RCMP detachment was deemed to have had enough (the four officers were placed on stress leave, and 17 reinforcements sent in their stead), the alarm would be widespread.

If it then emerged that there had been two homicides and a suspicious death, all involving young people, all in the space of a few weeks, people would clamour for answers, investigations, services.
