The priest grew up in this article and learned about what really happened as a result of a comment from his grandfather (who was made a slave by the Nazis) who said ““for others it was worse”. That aside led the priest to read and find out what happened.

Short, middle-aged and non-descript, the Frenchman would seem more at home strolling the roads of a neighbourhood parish or grasping a lectern. And then there’s the white clerical collar, proof positive that he is indeed a man of the cloth.
So his opening words at a lecture last week were no surprise: “What’s a Catholic priest doing in the killing fields of
Desbois, author of The Holocaust by Bullets: A Priest’s Journey to Uncover the Truth Behind the Murder of 1.5 Million Jews, spoke to a crowd of about 1,000 at Beth Tzedec Congregation. The event was presented by the synagogue and by the Holocaust Education Committee of the Christian Jewish Dialogue of Toronto, with the support of International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and Speakers Action Group.
