Really good article on subways in today's Star

The real problem is cost. But absent subways, or perhaps light rail on dedicated rights of way (not streetcars), transit gridlock in the GTA will just get worse.

And that means more cars with the need for focus on traffic flows.

Trams work really well. Ironically, the solution to Toronto's traffic problems may be fewer lanes dedicated to cars, not more. Give the extra lanes to trams, and double, triple, mass transit, so it works really well.

Oh yeah, and maybe a train all the way to the airport. Please?
