Great, now prove that human action is responsible AND that mitigation efforts will cost less and save more lives and habitat than alternatives that don't tackle climate change. Once you have the second two done I'll back you 100%
OOoooo, that hurt. Still, a lot of people in their right minds realize that even if climate change (or whatever name it's going by today) is happening, and IF it is caused by us, we still need to think about the cost/benefit of attempting to stop it. I know you just like the idea of living in your fantasy pre-industrial utopia but there are an awful lot of people who like flush toilets and central heating. Or hadn't you noticed the lack of "progress" on that file?
Excuse me please...but bull shit Rat. You need to take a trip to South Korea for example and learn exactly what they have done here in the past 17 months and for that matter China. Solar everywhere and don't say it needs water because it does not...it's new technology. Canadians are kept dumb regarding alternative flushing, heating and anything involving the environment and that is a fact. Anyong
The climate on Earth has been changing for over 4 billion years. It will continue to do so.
Even in the recent human era it has been cooler (1600's) and warmer(just before AD) than it is now.
The changes we are noticing are not out of line with what we have seen in the past. I too doubt the impact of man made climate change.
I am more certain though that the initiatives that have been implemented eg. Kyoto won't work and have not worked.
I find it ironic that humans suddenly want to stop the natural changes to the environment because we like the way it is right at this instant in the early 21st century. The level of arrogance in humans never stops to amaze me.
Anon, try not to be so ill informed. Read, learn. Each of your points is refuted or explained, daily, hundreds of times, at sites like realclimate.org. Most of your points are anchored on an element of truth that is then tortured to achieve wholly misleading spin.
For example you say the climate has always been in a state of change. Overall that's true but you then use it to advance the implication that what's happening today is not unusual which is patently false. You speak from self-serving ignorance and intellectual laziness.
Go to realclimate.org or Grist and read their comments about the points you make. This is the information from actual climate scientists whereas it sounds as though you get yours from a rather different source.
Anon, Kyoto failed. Nations simply did not fulfill their commitments but it was never intended to afford a solution, merely a beginning of a process without which there will be no solution.
You obviously have no need to delve into the science of global warming and have less interest in exposing yourself to those who totally rebut your rightwing talking points. If you choose to remain ignorant, nothing that I can write on Mr. Morton's blog can change that.
I will, however, leave you with this. Most of the talking points you cling to were hatched by the very same 'scientists' who once toiled for R.J. Reynolds in the tobacco giant's powerful and remarkably productive battle to deny the link between tobacco smoking and lung cancer.
If you can't see the parallels, consider this old argument from the tobacco days.
Lung cancer existed long before the introduction of tobacco smoking. (absolutely true) Even today people who have never smoked continue to develop lung cancer. (again, absolutely true) Hence the claimed link between tobacco smoking and lung cancer is disproven.
Gullible dupes fell for that back then just as gullible dupes are falling for the updated, global warming version of it today. It's sad really how successful the old R.J. Reynolds crowd has been with folks just like you, Anon.
Nations had no intention of fulfilling their Kyoto obligations including Canada. It was dishonest from the start.
It was never going to work. I guess you felt otherwise. You were duped.
Your assumption that I am "right wing" is an idication that you are stuck in the politics of GW/CC and not the facts.
Right now it is still fashionable to hold the belief that manmade GHG are the prime cause of climate change. This is similar to the rush to conclude that vaccinations are harmful. It was fashionable back in the 70's to believe that the planet was cooling and that the oil supply was nearly dry.

The thing is, Rat, no one in his right mind is interested in your backing.

In the future with climate change, there might not be anything left to flush with. Life will become odious for sewer rats then.

Mound;
Do you really believe that the Kyoto accord has helped? It is a failure. Who is guilty of tortured spin?
We have been told stories of oceans rising several feet, increased numbers of unprecedented storms etc.
It has been oversold. Quite frankly, we've been lied to.
I won't bother linking sites that shoot down the global warming/climate change theories.
It is too easy.

This too shall pass.
Enough. You haven't refuted a single thing I've said. You simply ignore it and dance around to another silly claim. I'll not waste any more time.
Same to you.
